Dubois Aménagement: A Family Legacy of Precision and Passion

There are family-run landscaping companies—and then there's Dubois Aménagement. Founded by Denis Dubois in 1995, the company now employs his wife, cousins, daughter, and son-in-law. Yet Denis was originally on a path to become a physical education teacher. That career wasn’t the right fit, and since he was already spending his summers landscaping, he decided to go all in, purchasing lawnmowers and maintenance equipment with a friend to get started.

In 2007, Denis bought out his partner to focus on creating high-end landscaping projects in the Eastern Townships, particularly around Magog. When the company earned its Maître Paysagiste certification in 2019, his daughter Florence and her partner Charles-Éric joined the business to support Denis and gradually take over management. For Florence, the certification is essential: “It elevates the entire landscaping profession by showing it’s a skilled and regulated trade. It also gives credibility to our approach in creating prestigious projects.”

The Art of Stonework

Prestige often goes hand in hand with natural stonework—one of Dubois Aménagement’s specialties. From natural stone retaining walls to patios, the team has mastered the craft, often working on large estates with multiple acres and varying elevations between the front and back yards. Their design inspiration comes from natural landscapes and the architecture of the home itself, which guides their choice of stone.

A popular style among clients is crazy work—the intricate and asymmetrical fitting of irregular stone pieces. For this technique, bluestone is a must-have material, offering both elegance and authenticity.

Family Values That Add Value

Two core values guide every project: family and respect. While many Dubois family members work within the business, these values are shared across the entire team. Work–life balance is deeply embedded in the company culture. In fact, the team gathers monthly for BBQs that include employees’ families—a moment to bond and recharge.

Respect is also evident in every aspect of the workplace, from equal pay and task distribution between men and women to the way site supervisors treat newcomers on the job.

Taking the Time to Do Things Right

Attention to detail is one of the team’s greatest strengths. They take the time to execute each project thoughtfully, preserving the natural environment and existing elements on the property. Every component is carefully considered and expertly crafted—because their reputation for prestige is always on the line.

Even Florence, who leads marketing and HR, personally inspects each site before it’s revealed to the client, ensuring everything is flawless.

Although the company’s mission is to push the limits and deliver increasingly grand and prestigious projects, the atmosphere on-site remains friendly and collaborative. Florence Dubois also has another goal: to continue educating the public that landscaping is a creative, inspiring profession that deserves respect.

One thing is certain: the company’s mission of going above and beyond is upheld every day by its 60 employees—or rather, by the big family that is Dubois Aménagement.
