Description

Stunning Tudor-style residence. In the backyard, a terrace was created to host numerous guests, while a lawn area was planned to provide a play space. To minimize the visual impact of the parking area, a hydrangea hedge was added, creating a natural green screen. Due to the slope of the land toward the house, a retaining wall was built to stabilize the surface and maximize usable space. This area is framed by a clean border and a linear drain buried under decorative stone, connected to a dry well beneath the lawn. An infrastructure allowing vehicle access was discreetly hidden beneath the grass to maintain access to the garage.

Goals and Challenges

  1. Managing stormwater runoff toward the property, as well as surface water drainage (from the terrace) into a dry well via underground drains in the gravel areas.
  2. Minimizing water usage by integrating ground cover in the front yard and enhancing biodiversity through a careful selection of pollinator-friendly plants.
