Description
Stunning Tudor-style residence. In the backyard, a terrace was created to host numerous guests, while a lawn area was planned to provide a play space. To minimize the visual impact of the parking area, a hydrangea hedge was added, creating a natural green screen. Due to the slope of the land toward the house, a retaining wall was built to stabilize the surface and maximize usable space. This area is framed by a clean border and a linear drain buried under decorative stone, connected to a dry well beneath the lawn. An infrastructure allowing vehicle access was discreetly hidden beneath the grass to maintain access to the garage.
Goals and Challenges
- Managing stormwater runoff toward the property, as well as surface water drainage (from the terrace) into a dry well via underground drains in the gravel areas.
- Minimizing water usage by integrating ground cover in the front yard and enhancing biodiversity through a careful selection of pollinator-friendly plants.
